Kyle Quella’s racing career began
in 1998, when he started racing in the Kids Kart Club in Neenah, Wisconsin.
In 1999, he won the season ending 75 Lap Enduro Race. From 1998-2000,
Kyle raced in the Intermediate group and collected many wins, but the
group was not scored for points. From 2001-2003, he raced in the Pro
group, which did have a points series. He won the championship each
year and also won over 50 races in those 3 years.
In addition in 2003, Kyle also began helping his father, Jerry, and
Charlie Haven with the Wisconsin Sport Truck they had purchased. He
was able to make his first start in a Wisconsin Sport Truck at the end
of the year with the truck the team had purchased from Craig Hess. Although
he did not finish well at Lake Geneva that weekend, Kyle gained experience,
which would help him in the future when they would return to LGR.
2004 was Kyle’s first full season in a Wisconsin Sport Truck.
He earned Rookie-of-the-Year honors, finishing 9th in the points at
WIR. Kyle also took 3rd in the Away Series points. He had one fast time
and two heat wins in 2004.
Kyle only improved in 2005. He finished 4th in the points at WIR and
won the Away Series Championship. He earned his first feature win at
Golden Sands Speedway, along with amassing 12 fast times and 3 heat
wins.
2006 was almost a perfect year for the number 02 truck. Kyle finished
2nd in points at WIR, after a tight battle with champion Dan Vixmer,
and he won the Away Series Championship for the 2nd year straight. The
first feature win for Quella Racing at WIR came in the ’06 season,
which was a major goal for the team. Kyle was able to win 3 more features
at WIR, also 6 at the Away Series tracks to bring the season total to
10. He had 3 heat wins again and 11 fast times throughout the 2006 season.
After 2006, the team knew it would be tough to improve and it was. Struggling
with an endurance problem in 2007, it was hard for the truck to go the
distace in the features. Kyle was able to bring home one feature win
in 2007 at 141 and also had one heat win and five fast times. Another
team goal was reached when Kyle turned a 15.978, the first sub-sixteen
second lap in six years in a Wisconsin
Sport Truck.
2008 is going to be a big year for Quella
Racing. Not only is the team looking to get back on track to the year
they had in 2006, but the team also will be getting out in the late
model. 2008 will be a year of learning, but the is excited and ready
for the challenge!
