The team decided late that they were going to run again at Plover this week. It was a good decision because Kyle turned in his best qualifying effort all year. The lap was a 12.747, putting him 20th out of 26 cars. The car had to start 6th in the heat and Kyle didn't have anywhere to go, so that is where he finished. Since he qualified 20th, Kyle started on the pole for the semi feature. After a yellow flag 5 laps into the race, Kyle got to the inside on the restart. He led for 4 or 5 laps before he was tapped from behind, which caused him to spin. The 02 had to go to the back, but Kyle was able to come back through to a 6th place finish. Even though the night didn't end the way the team would like, they felt like much progress was made. As of now, the team is planning on running the 12th at Plover. It's going to be another busy, but yet fun week!
6-4-09 Thursday Night started rough once again for Quella Racing. The chain had fallen off in practice and the team had to scramble to prepare the truck for qualifying. The chain stayed on for qualifying and Kyle was able to turn a 16.988, placing 7th. The truck experienced handling issues in the heat and Kyle was not able to hold on to it. After a spin, Kyle pulled off and finished 9th. Adjustments were made to make the truck better, and they worked. Kyle was hanging around the top 5 all night, but fell at the end to finish 8th. The team is getting better every week and can't wait for next Thursday!
